This week is proving to be a complete write off, mainly because I have decided to cram preparing a birthday party for Pip (which I just have to make everything for myself – goodness only knows why) into a ridiculously short period of time. I have been sticking images of Tinkerbell to glittery paper and painstakingly cutting them out with tiny scissors and threading metres of ribbon through chairs and quietly going mad. So, it was with much relief that yesterday I had the greatest excuse to leave 5 year old party planning madness behind to visit the Affordable Styles Files ‘hut’ at Dempsey Hill.
It is a perfectly petite space already full of some of my favourite Australian brands with more and more beautiful items arriving each day. This is one little hut that you will need to be popping into regularly – perhaps timed to co-incide with a spot of lunch in Dempsey or a Pilates class next door.
Much loved for her interior styling work, Hong Henwood recently expanded the Affordable Style Files brand to include a retail concept. It is a carefully curated collection based around contemporary Australian design. Up until now, buying Australian brands like Ivy Muse or Fond Industries for Singapore dwellers has meant a trip back home and a rather large empty suitcase ready to fill for the return journey (over our years away I have managed to cart back some pretty large items but even I can’t imagine finding room for a Byron Bay Hanging Chair in the packing)! So I am thrilled that now we can simply pop to Dempsey for a fix of Australian design.
Whether you are looking for items for inside your home, like these Fond Industries cushions, or to add some colour and style to your outdoor area with a rug and maybe some striking pots, Affordable Style Files have you covered. There are even some amazing industrial sized candles that burn forever and greet you with a beautiful smell before you even walk in the door. And this is just the beginning. In the coming days and weeks Affordable Style Files will be adding further collections to their offering including new artwork and ceramics.
Sharing the space with Affordable Style Files is Flower Girl who have relocated from their previous Dempsey location. So on one side you have cushions and vases and all things homewares – and on the other, shelves of Annie Sloan paint pots ready for you to transform any number of your current furniture or homeware items. Perfect.
Affordable Style Files will be at the Spring edition of Boutiques Fair starting at the end of this week. For full details of the fair, visit the Boutiques Facebook page. To find out more about Affordable Style Files, visit their website.
Now…where was I with Tinkerbell cut outs…
