A Beautiful Fall Table
We’ve talked about the lack of recognisable seasons on here before. Living on the equator we have more “change of rain patterns” as opposed to actual seasons. But it’s lovely to pay homage to the changing of the seasons elsewhere in the world - if nothing else but to experiment with different colour combinations and engage in a sense of change. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not advocating you swap out your interior scheme to prepare for the colder seasons ahead, but a little nod to a richer autumnal palette can be indulged in when it comes to setting the table for a dinner at home.
honey and plum
Opposites attract. Find harmony in a complementary colour scheme using deep honey and plum with hints of blush. The use of the honey colour gives a nod to the Autumnal colour palette without going overboard.
CHOOSE A COLOUR PALETTE
I have used these beautiful honey napkins in linen - soft to the touch, they drape beautifully and provide a lovely statement colour
Pair the honey hue with florals in deep purples, dusty pinks and a sprig or two of dark green foliage
Add to the palette with soft pink tinted glassware and brass accents
Menu
I like to keep everything very easy when I have guests and a big robust salad is always top of mind. It can be made before hand and omits the need for lots of sides.
One of my favourite salads for this is the Ancient Grain salad originally served at Hellenic Republic in Melbourne. I have been making it for so many years. It is a wonderfully robust salad perfect for entertaining. I like to serve it with grilled salmon or lamb but any protein will work with it beautifully. For vegetarian guests, add a few slices of grilled halloumi to complete the meal. The salad is dressed with olive oil and served with a creamy yoghurt sauce spiked with cumin and drizzled with honey.
