A moment in time
This image was captured on the very last day of the Covid 19 lock down. That period of time was full of contradictions. Fear for what was happening, worry that we would get sick and be hospitalised and a sense of calm as regular life stopped. The area of Loewen Gardens and Dempsey is in our neighbourhood and is usually busy with people eating out in restaurants and socialising, so it was strange and quite lovely during the lockdown to have these popular streets all to ourselves. The day I captured this was a beautiful mid-year day. Dry and warm. I waited until the sun was lower in the sky to head out with my camera. There was no one around. Everything was whisper quiet and I had the neighbourhood to myself to capture its beauty as the sun set. This building couldn’t be captured like this today as it is now a school with plenty in the way to obstruct the view, so this truly was a moment in time. These buildings have a story to tell and I was glad to capture it in its most simple state.
